Dog Fence for Our Siberian Huskies

We have 3 Siberian Huskies. The younger two are brother and sister. They were born November 15Th, 2007. I can remember this day because that is the opening day for Gun Season for White Tale Deer in Michigan. The third, larger dog we have is a little older by about 4 months. She is all white and has a lot of energy. Her best option to escape the yard is to jump the fence.

They have learned to dig under or jump over the fence. We like them to run freely in the yard. When they get out they like to take off and go for many blocks. I have been looking into getting the underground wire fence and train them to stay in the yard.

They all like to bite each others collars off. We have bought all types of collars but they just keep biting them off of each other. The last time they escaped the year the dog catcher ended up with them. We got them back but the catcher recommended that we purchase collars with the spikes. They are thicker and stronger and hurt the dogs teeth if they try to bite the spikes. We have had them on the dogs for 3 weeks now and they are still wearing them. Thanks for the great tip there dog catcher.

After some research and talking to others, my wife and I decided to purchase the PetSafe In-Ground Radio fence. The pet store where I purchased the fence from had friendly staff that walked me through all the steps of installing and training the dogs.

When we get them trained with the new system we can take it with us when we go camping. All I need to bring with us is the main box, some boundary wire and flags. That will be nice. We will be all set to enjoy our pets and save the money that we would have spent boarding them.

The dogs are very playful with our sons. The boys and the dogs get to burn a lot of energy together. I think we made a great decision to buy more than one dog. Did I mention that I have 5 sons? The dogs keep them busy and vice versa.
